My name is Ryan O’Sullivan, I am an award-winning multimedia sports journalist currently studying at the University of Northampton. My work focuses within sport.
As a lifelong football fan, sport has always played a big role in my life. However, my interest goes beyond results . I am passionate about giving athletes at all levels of sport—from grassroots to elite—the opportunity to share their experiences, especially when it comes to head injuries and concussion.
My current documentary focuses on head injuries in sport, including concussion, post-concussion syndrome, and the potential long-term impacts athletes may face. While governing bodies have taken steps in recent years to improve awareness and protocols, I believe there is still more to be done. Through this project, I aim to investigate these issues further,.
The documentary brings together professional athletes, specialists, and charities to an discussion around head injuries in sport. My goal is to raise awareness, encourage open conversation, and help better understand the realities athletes face when dealing with concussion and its long-term effects.
